Living Costs at Stanford or USC

Hey!!
So I was just wondering: If I am going to study at Stanford or USC how much are the basic costs of living? Like are stuff expensive there? How much do you say you spnd every month on food, recreation etc ? I've seen what the universities websites say but I wanna see if it is truly accurate.
Thank you:)

Let me just tell you like this: Everything in California is expensive lol.

Stanford is in one of the wealthiest areas of the country, and the surrounding stores’ prices reflect that. USC is located in a much poorer area, so relative to Stanford, prices will be low. If you’re not from LA, NYC, or another high CoL area, most urban or suburban parts of California will seem extremely expensive.

To add, if you have a choice though, definitely pick Stanford to attend…

Most students live on campus at least for the first year or two. The COA (Cost of Attendance) estimatse on college web sites are usually pretty accurate since the cost of tuition, room, food are set by the colleges except for personal expenses. Once students move off campus the cost can vary more.

As others pointed out Stanford is in an affluent area where USC is in the hood.

Thanks guys! Haha…I better start making a plan then >_<
