living in Bowles - all guys dorms?

dood, it's what you make of it, i'm a big party guy too. make sure to tape up ur smoke detector and put towels under the door, and invite anyone over u'd like MAKE YOUR OWN PARTIES

i've been part of and had some of the best parties of my life in bowles/foothill area. My birthday was held @ foothill, we've had some raging parties in the dorms...they just have to be clandestine. just be smart about it.....if ur sociable...parties come to you. We had a whole dorm culture of partying,...i could've been drunk/high every night of the week if i wanted too, there's a great market on northside with nice beer and wine. the units are WAY harder to party in cause there's no side rooms. you'll have a good time, plus bowles is right north of the greek row.

thanks punkdudeus for the info i think im thinkin this too negatively.

is foothill/stern close to bowles?

foothill is right next to bowles, it's where you're gonna eat. stern girls are usually pretty.....heinous....there were a few chill chicks there that either moved out quick or hated it...
but don't worry, the sternies they keep to themselves and stay in packs...just be careful during feeding...

haha fa sho appreciate all this advice.

anything else that i have to know?

Haha great...(I'll be in Stern). I don't even know what to think of this

And to the OP, I was considering trying to switch out of Stern but (aside from being too lazy) I ultimately decided that I'd just go with it. Hopefully we'll all find a way to cope with questionable housing.

yah one thing i think u should do...at the end of ur first year....go out with a friend...sit on the front of the grass of bowles...at the top of the hill to the left of the stairs, facing out towards maxwell field...it's a sight ur gonna miss when u leave...

go out there with a friend roll a fat one...and smoke it....it'll put everything into perspective...make u feel like ur breaking the rules (u are, and nobody's gonna do **** cause it's the end of the year) and just take it all in...do the same thing in the hills above the dorms during sunset or @ night

it'll put everything into perspective you're first year in college is gonna be unforgettable man....appreciate every second and don't regret a minute. make the best of what you got and do what you love.

haha its all good kelkyann, im sure you welcome over at my dorms haha

anybody else living or lived in bowles? anybody else got things or advice to say?

my bro is gonna be a mentor (basically like an RA, but a little different) at Bowles next year, so I'll be sure to pass all the partying info on to him...way to turn yourselves in guys....also, i thought the rooms were really nice, especially compared to some of the other dorms. my brother had a gorgeous view of the bay and gg bridge his frosh. year. bowles by far has the best traditions also. the school kinda rallies around what they do sometimes (eg singing after football games, singing at stern, etc). anyway, thanks again for the partying tips....

lol...mentors are a trip...they're not kinda like RA's...they're supposed to like...be big brothers to the frosh's coming in....but they ended up being really uptight narcs. they can't write u up, they can just act like asses but get laughed at a lot behind their backs....it's all good though.

singing is actually quite fun, i used to lead singing as part of my office, i was effed up each time, it was great. also the rights of spring was ok...and the big game day band coming by was cool, drinking on the lawn with all the alumni (the RA's and RD were going NUTS) it was fun!

vc08,....the "tips" are pretty standard common sense stuff....so chill. i had a sick view too, i was in room 701 looking out over the bay

vc08,....describe your bro, i probably kno him. there were some chill people who were gonna be RA's and mentors as far as i can recall, one of my room-mate's is gonna be and RA there, he's really chill, got some funny stories with him and what not.

haha, i was just kidding about telling you guys off. just wanted to worry you a little...it's no news to my brother, remember that he lived there too. besides, not being able to do anything is fine with him, he just likes getting priority housing ;)....what year did you live there, punkdudeus? he was there the first year they were called the 'gentlemen of bowles', which i thought was really funny

i was there last year, not there any more. ur bro prolly knows me, i may not remember him, i was a high ranking hall ass officer.

oh yeah, you're the guy he talked crap about all the time! JK!

is it true they dont let outsiders/guests in after a certain time? i dont know if my boy is messing with me but he tellin they close the doors after a certain time.

yeah, from 4am-6am ;)

HAHA vc08 i cant tell when you are serious or not

i just visited Bowles and i gotta say its hella far from campus and places.

got questions for those who lived in bowles

how long of a walk from bowles to campus? from bowles to unit 3?

you recommend riding a bike to get to campus? is there a bus?

naw don't get a bike, bowles is the closest dorm to campus, it's just off to the side. it's a less than 10 minute walk seems longer at first, but you'll get used to it, don't trip.

if your a science/engineer major, Bowles is the much closer to your classes than the units.
