Hi! I wanted to ask if it was possible for me, an upcoming freshmen at the University of Pittsburgh, to be part of the Engineering LLC (Living Learning Community) even though I am in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. I plan on majoring in Computer Science and since Computer Science and some parts to Engineering such as Software Engineering are related, I thought it would be more beneficial for me to part of this LLC. I also plan to reside in the Sutherland Residence Hall. If it is not possible for me to part of this LLC, then in your opinion, what is the best LLC to be part of that could help me with my major? Thank you for the replies.
Technically no. The Engineering LLC is first and foremost for students registered within SSOE. I know in past years they have had additional openings which they filled with other people, but you do not get first priority for a bed.
Sutherland hall is for Honors LLC and Athletes.
The honors LLC. You will be with other academically focused students and will be in Sutherland hall if you get in. If you are not already UHC eligible, send an email to their housing asking for permission to apply. But you should hurry, the application is due at the end of May.
@AwesomeOpossum so if I am not UHC eligible, does that mean that I can’t be part of the Honors LLC? or can students not part of the honors program join the honors LLC? Thanks.
You can apply for only one LLC but yes, if you are not UHC eligible you can still apply for their LLC - but you may need to have a good app to have them accept you over kids who are UHC-eligible. eg write well thought out responses to their app.
@zaxway, You can get information about applying for the Honors LLC here: http://www.honorscollege.pitt.edu/housing/first-year-honors-housing
The application is due Sunday, May 31.

You need to ask the UHC for permission to apply. I think almost always they will say yes because there is a lot of space in Sutherland.
Does that mean that a student who wants to room in honors llc with a student who is not honors eligible can request them as a roommate? But both have to apply to honors llc and request each other, right?
@mommdc, Yes a student who is not Honors eligible can still apply for the LLC. Both students must apply and request each other.
