living learning community

who is one? who is considering it? what are the + and -

Thought of it, but I want one of the new dorm halls such as Reynolds or something similar.

Maybe Wildwood Hall and DeGraff Hall..

I don't know, I'm OOS so I can't really "see", things.

I signed up for a Bio-Major and that's what they what they have me in for a Bachelors in Biology.

xD

I wonder how I choose a minor too?

Hmmm...

cf- i am also oos but have visited. wildwood and degraff are almost identical new buildings very very nice. wildwood's location is more centralized.
i have been on the website trying to learn more about the live learn communities. i was hoping someone could tell me if you live right next door to the other people on the same floor or if residents are scattered throughout the dorm? also is it a one year commitment? is there a lot of outside volunteer work associated with them? also is it difficult to gain acceptance? it looks like you complete an aplicaton write an essay?

alright so im currently in the degraff living and learning community, so if you guys have specific question you can ask me.

Currently im in the degraff living learning community, the basic premise is that we take classes and go to lectures regarding things with social sciences, like this week we attended a presentation about the current role of women in the middle east, quite interesting, we also have to take this one credit class which meets on mondays, where we basically watch movies and discuss how they affect society, last week movies " a day without a mexican", also you have to take an in house course, which i find the best part, currently im taking human geography which is quite good and is on the first floor of degraff, so i get up and just walk downstairs and take a class with 20 ppl from the llc. We all live on the same floor, so its about 16 guys and the rest girls, and we're pretty good friends and hangout and go to the football games together.

In terms of the other communities, I have heard the worst things about the wellness community, two of my friends were kicked out already from there, and the wildwood one seems interesting, I know they recently went on a weekend retreat.

Furthermore, im applying to be the RA for the degraff community so if you guys choose to join theres a good chance i'll be your RA.

what is the application like? i read on website you are allowed to apply for more than one

The FSU Wikipedia entry has some pix of campus you may find interesting.

the application is just an essay. they don't look at credentials, just writing

fsu-uf

when do you apply for the llc? Everyone on cc says how important it is to get a "housing number" as soon as you get accepted. when you go to the housing web site to do this (after gaining admission), do you also request dorms and a llc that you are interested in or do you just apply for housing in general, get a number and then apply for your dorms later on.

our s has applied for summer 2008 and will need to do what you did last year. apply for one dorm for the summer and then a second one for the fall.

thanks for your help.

do the living learning communities attract a certian kind of student ie jock, nerd, preppie etc???????????????????????????????
