Do other prestigious colleges that cannot guarantee acceptance like the Ivies through athletics give Likely Letters or drop hints? I am trying to be recruited at several places where they can simply offer me a slot in which they support me in admissions but not give me a absolute yes. Mostly DIII is what I'm thinking of.

I’m not aware of any D1 or D3 schools other than Ivys that offer LLs. Son was recruited by a bunch of D1s, and some D3 schools in the NESCAC, ODAC, SCAC, and Centennial conferences a few years ago. Verbal slot support is about as much as a D3 coach can offer. The coach will mostly likely want you to apply ED in exchange for his support. Some NESCAC schools offer an ED1 and ED2 (except Williams and Amherst) as a means to bring in their recruits.

By the way, I would put quotes around the word “guarantee” in any college recruiting discussion. D1 NLIs and Ivy LL are not “guarantees” as the recruit still has to perform in the classroom senior year. Buzzkill for the senioritis crowd.

Good luck!

Yeah I use guarantee with caution, I was just curious! Thanks for the response though!

I have no first-hand experience.
Some reports (such as CC’s Ask the Dean) state that a few high-level non-Ivy schools also use LLs.

I believe that Georgetown also has a version of a LL for athletes.

Dean J posted that U-Va uses them:

I was truthfully thinking for places like Carnegie Mellon, MIT (mostly those two)
