Llb?

I've been looking at doing an LLB in England but in the future I would like to practice in the US or in France. How does the LLB compare to a JD? Would I have to do a JD before I could go on to an LLM?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

If you want to paracte law in the US, your best course is to attend an ABA approved US law school. See the following, starting on page 14 and continuing for several pages thereafter, for varying rules appllicable to foreign trained lawyers for admission to a state’s bar: http://www.ncbex.org/fileadmin/mediafiles/downloads/Comp_Guide/2011_CompGuide.pdf</a>
For many states, you can never be admitted absent graduating from an ABA approved law school. Others have varying rules of what additonal education may be required. As to whther you can seek an LLM if you have a foreign law degree, that may be possible but will depend on law school, but again you need to check each state to determine whether getting LLM courses will even help get admitted to the bar of state.
