LMU great aid or USC no aid?

My S received a very generous scholarship package from LMU (accepted for film production)but also was accepted into USC's School of Cinematic Arts for production, with parents required to pay full freight. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge re: how graduates of LMU's film production program are perceived in the hiring industry and whether the very large debt that will be required to attend USC is worth it?

Great question. We have a similar situation. Our daughter also got a very generous scholarship package from LMU for film production. She also got a nice one from Emerson College. But she got very little from NYU (really next to nothing!). Bottom line is that we can not put our daughter through school while we skirt bankruptcy. It just isn’t worth it. So it’s between LMU and Emerson for us. Both great school, both great programs. Besides its not necessarily the school, Steven Spielberg went to CSU, Long Island (which he didn’t graduate from till he went back and finished his degree in 2002). I understand that he has made a couple of semi-successful films.

BTW Congrats on your daughter’s scholarships! Steven Spielburg graduated from CSU Long Beach not Long Island. Also he didn’t make “some semi-successful” films. He made many great films.

Joe: you are right, it was CSU Long Beach (hey, my wife is from Long Island so it was just a big typo). And as to my comment about “some semi-successful films” I was just joking around. I am a huge fan of his and his films.

Would any one care to share their scholarship amounts? I’m curious as to what is thought of as a “great” scholarship at LMU. My daughter got $17,000 and we’re still waiting for fin aid, as her scores were resent 3 times so everything was delayed. I was hoping for more.
