LMU or UCSD

I recently was accepted as a transfer to UCSD and LMU as a Communications Major. I know LMU has a good comm program, but what about UCSD? Which school is stronger when looking at my major? Also, UCSD is significantly cheaper. LMU’s price is making me rethink my choices. However, I’d rather commit to a school that would be better. Which school may be a better investment?

they are both outstanding - so you will be fine with either. That said, I wouldn’t incur a dime of debt for LMU - especially when you have UCSD as an option.

congrats and good luck

UCSD (UC of the socially dead) Is truly a commuters school and most students (generalization from my own personal connections with the school) are pretty exclusive and introverted (not an issue, but it makes it difficult to make new friends). I do not know much about the Comm programs of both schools, but socially you’ll have more support at LMU. UCSD doesn’t have a lot of support services for mental wellness, and LMU is definitely a place where students do clubs and events on campus. However, I think price is an important factor. If you know you can afford it after you get a secure job, then sure go to LMU; but don’t pay that amount unless you are REALLY REALLY excited about going. Paying 40+ k per year just because you are OK with the school isn’t worth the future stress.

Just one thing to consider. Good Luck!

UCSD is not a commuter school.
