<p>My financial aid package has $1000 in loans, should I attempt to get this changed into a grant because in a news release from Tufts they stated that they would not include loans in the awards for students with a family income of $40,000 or less. (And I'm in the less category)</p>

<p>Firstly, ask yourself this: Can my family (and myself) realistically afford this 1k debt? If the answer is no, then by all means, do so. If the answer is yes, then I would say to leave it just out of respect to all those who aren’t getting enough aid and leaving more opportunities for other people. Yes it may seem to be an insignificant amount. but who knows? There may be someone out there who needs that 1-4k more than you do. Not to be mean, but just putting it out there.</p>
