Also, remember if you do Teach for America after you graduate, after two years they will erase your debt. It is something worth looking into.

I will look in to that anon5524485.

Actually I have looked into the classes I need finish my bizecon major at UCLA

[UCLA Department of Economics](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/bizecon.html)

and I planned out my schedule (if I choose to go to UCLA as a freshman). Can anyone (particularly bizecon majors) tell me how realistic this would be?

Summer of this year: Take Econ 2, Calc 2, and English (equivalent to Eng 4w at UCLA) at CC. I took Econ 1 and AP Calc AB last year. I passed the entry level writing req and Eng 3with AP Eng Lang exam

That would leave me with 5 pre reqs: Econ 11, Econ 41, Econ 101, MGMT 1A, and MGMT 1B

Fall quarter 2009

Econ 11
Econ 41
MGMT 1A

**Winter quarter/b

Econ 101
Econ 103
MGMT 1B
Econ elective

**Spring quarter/b

Econ 102
Class from Econ 106 series that does not have Econ 102 as requisite… so like Econ 106E
Management class
Management class

Summer of 2010

Finish the rest of my GE’s at CC.

Fall 2010

Econ elective
Econ elective
Class from Econ 106 series
Management class

Winter quarter 2010

I would have only one management class left to finish the major. So that and maybe some classes I may not have been able to take in previous quarters?

Of course this is assuming no scheduling conflicts which is highly unlikely… but is this possible? Graduating in 1 year + 2 quarters, entering as a freshman? I will meet the minimum units required to graduate if this schedule works.

If that schedule works, then I don’t need to go to CC.

Don’t know specifically about the major, but this part might be a potential problem:

Summer of 2010
Finish the rest of my GE’s at CC.

[Residency Requirement](http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/counseling/regulations/residency.htm)
[Transferring Coursework](http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/counseling/regulations/transcourse.htm)

Darn… so I guess I can only take 2/3 GE classes during summer '10. Any way I can petition for this?

According to the transferring coursework page:

“You may still receive course credit and satisfy requirements with community college coursework without receiving unit credit.”

Does that I mean if I take GEs during summer '10, I won’t get any unit credit towards graduation, but still meet the GE requirements?

You’ll fulfill the requirements, but you won’t get any units towards graduation.

Alright

I have another question.

I thought semester units = 1.5 times quarter units. Why are some classes at CC (like Calculus 2) is like 5 semester units, but you only get 4 quarter units for it? Or do you get 1.5 times 5 = 7.5 units?? And are units rounded? So 17.5 units = 18 units?

You should be getting 7.5 units if the calculus class is 5 units at a CC. My calculus units transferred over as 7.5 units.

Ok thanks

If I plan to enroll at UCLA and take CC classes this summer, do I have to tell that I will be doing this? Or can I just take them and transfer them once I finish the classes?

Another question…

When do I have to pay the university fees? Can I pay them monthly/quarterly? When do they notify what the balance is that I have to pay (if I submit SIR to LA)?

Most fees and stuff are due quarterly (Sept, Dec, Mar). Smaller fees due at end of quarters. They generally don’t notify you the balance (just something is due that month) and you’ll need to check URSA (BAR) for the details.

But as an incoming freshman, I am not notified of my fees until at least June or July right? I don’t have to worry about paying the fees right now?

I don’t think anything is due until September. Housing is a different story. They need a deposit or something fairly soon.

Do I pay for housing in September too? I think they just need the deposit right now

tough choice. transferring from a CC is getting competitive now so since you’re already in UCLA, i’d take the admission. If financial reasons are really a problem, then go to a CC because you seem really smart so you shouldn’t have that much of a problem maintaining a high GPA at a CC =)

I decided on LA. I submitted my SLR/SIR yesterday. =)

I can still graduate within 2 years, so I think this is the best possible choice for me.

About housing… they only need the deposit right?
