I have a question that bothers me every second of every day as of late. How much does geographic diversity affect the admissions process? Let me be more specific: I am the salutatorian of a small school (graduating class size=142) and both myself and the valedictorian want to go to Yale. Now, she is leaps and bounds ahead of me (perfect SAT, GPA, EC...etc) so i think she will get in while I am definately on the edge. So, will admissions look down on me because they've already accepted one student from a podunk little town/school in NY?

--please ease a suffering mind

don't worry too much about it. i'm from a public school in a small town in CT where it's pretty rare for people to go to ivies, and if so, it's usually cornell. my year, they ended up taking the valedictorian, salutatorian, and another girl ranked 15. if you're qualified and they want you, they'll take you regardless of whether or not they're planning on accepting someone else from your school.
