Is it common to go to a college in one area, lets say chicago, and then land a good job right out of college in boston? The cities dont matter, Im talking about in general of getting a good job in a major area other then the area you attended college in. Is it common? or do the majority get offers in the location of the school they attended?

Depends some on the school. Some recruiters who are hiring for national firms go to schools where the students are willing to move. Others stay local at smaller (less well know schools) to hire local. And you can alway indicate you are willing to relocate.
