my parents were bugging me because i told them that to graduate from rhetoric, i don't need to write a thesis. they keep on insisting that most uni in just about any part of the world requires a thesis for graduation. after nagging me for so long, it has actually gotten to me a bit. now i can't help but wonder if it is indeed part of graduation requirement and that i am simply not informed of it.

I’m not too sure but I always thought thesis was more of a grad school thing, where you do original research?

thats what i told them. word for word…then they’d counter with “oh your cousin at university of waterloo had to write a thesis”, and “that other cousin at purdue had to write one as well”, etc…

there is a thesis IF you qualify for honors and voluntarily take the honors thesis course, otherwise no.

Are you from Europe?

My parents asked me the same thing too. My parents were like, “Did you start on your senior project (they used the word project instead of thesis paper) yet? You need a really good project to graduate.”

They are telling me this because that’s how they graduated from undergrad in Europe, they did a senior project during their last year.

But I think only people who are on Honors List would do a thesis in undergrad (they have an Honors thesis class)?

If you’re planning on going to grad school, I imagine it would be a good idea to write a thesis.
