I'm going into an accelerated med program and most students take 20 credit hours. We take 2 sciences at one time, unless you use AP or CLEP to test out of a class. Next fall, I'll be taking Chem I and Anatomy at the same time. I already took AP Chem, and I'm just opting to retake the course as a refresher. From what I've heard, in most pre-med programs they advise students to take chemistry first. Chemistry builds a solid foundation for biology. I did it that way in high school (AP Chem junior year, AP Bio senior year). It just makes a lot more sense logically. Also, after taking chem, bio is pretty much a breeze.

Wow, I never thought of chem before bio, but it makes a lot of sense. You would get much more out of bio if you knew some chemistry.

To be completely honest, it is only 20 credits because of how the distribution works out technically. Under a lot of other school systems that would be a 17 or 18 credit semester which isn't nearly as bad.

You should be fine. Five courses a semester is the norm for my school - I took six course equivalents plus a credit music ensemble (I'm not a music major though) in my last semester and did great. You might have to put some work in, but that's what uni is about! Work hard, play hard, right?

Just remember to prioritize and find balance. If you know how to do that and study effectively, you shouldn't have any problems.
