Hi, I will be applying for college this fall (class of 2021), and I’m from the US. I was looking into LSE, but the requirements say that you have to get 5’s on basically all your APs. Is this true? What would happen to someone applying internationally from the US if they were not to get all 5’s? Is there any entrance exam or anything else?
Yes, if the university clearly states that you need 5s on X number of AP exams in order to be admitted, then that’s an absolute requirement that they wouldn’t budge on. College admission in Europe mostly relies on standardized exams like A-levels or AP exams.
Some programs will go further and specify the subjects that you need to have 5s in.
There’s plenty of other universities in the world if you don’t qualify for admission to LSE.
Basically that’s the minimum requirement.
The most important requirement is a 5 in Calculus BC (and higher math than that is preferred) plus 5’s in other “full” subjects (note that some subjects count as “half” and you need two of them to make up the deficiency).
As @b@ar!um said, the requirements are the requirements- and they include subject requirements.
Also, be sure that you understand what you are applying for: in the UK you study only your subject, and you have very few choices, especially in the first year (they post your classes for each year in the course descriptions- read them very very carefully.
