LSE admission requirement

Hi everyone! I want to apply to LSE this year using my AP grades, but I saw on its website that the school requires any student who takes AP to have at least 5 “group A” AP with grade 5. My problem right now is that I have more than 5 APs in total, but I only have 4 “group A” APs. Are they still going to consider my application? Earlier this year, I met one of the admission officers at my school and she only asked me whether I had 5 APs, but she didnt mention anything about the “group A” APs. If someone has applied to LSE with APs, could you please share your experience with me? Thanks a lot!

What APs do you have?

Sometimes, UK unis will count 2 group B APs as 1 group A AP, but being related to your subject is more important.

Ok so if you are applying for a program that requires 5 A level ap courses they will not even consider you with 4. However if you have taken certain b level ap courses, 2 can be counted together as 1 A level. On the USA requirements page (see link above), Ap courses group together such as US and Comparative Government and Politics, Macro and Micro economics, and Human Geography and Environmental Science are B level AP courses but if you took both and got a 5 in both, that will count as one A level.

Be aware that they do not view all AP courses as suitable for entry and not any 2 B level ap courses can be counted together as an one A level (only the 2 they group together). So if you are still left with only 4 A level ap courses I strongly suggest you take another one this year. They will allow you to apply even if you have not taken all your tests but you will be required to submit your grades you currently have in the course and their admissions tutor will predict your ap test grade. Depending on whether or not they predict you will get a five that will count as 1 A level ap course. Because you have to submit grades in an ap course for prediction of the test outcome do not self-study it on your own as there will be no way to predict your test grade. Taking it through school is best, but if you simply don’t have time in your schedule take it through an accredited online cite such as John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.

Be aware that most USA applicants accepted have exceeded the minimum requirement of 5 A level ap courses. If you have any time to I would recommend taking as many AP A level courses they classify as suitable for entry as you can either online or at your school.

Good luck on your application!
