Anyone have a student applying to schools in the UK as well as US schools? My D22 is very interested in studying policy in the UK and would love to start a conversation. She was admitted to Bristol, still waiting on LSE and UCL.
Hi, my D22 is also applying to UK and US schools, but we’re in the UK. She’s STEM-focused and has a few acceptances at UK schools (but she didn’t apply to Bristol, UCL and LSE) and awaiting RD results from US schools.
If you have any questions about UK schools or living in England, feel free to ask away. If your D wants to meet UK peers in her area of interest, I suggest joining The Student Room (TSR) and Reddit’s 6thForm forums.
Thanks so much for the information! She actually just got a follow-up letter from UCL saying she should hear soon, and was also admitted to Nottingham (forgot she applied there). LSE and UCL are her top choices but would love any thoughts about Nottingham and Bristol, if anyone else has something to share. She has applied to several US schools and is waiting on those, but is more excited about international policy in the UK. We are visiting the schools next month.
Best of luck to your D on LSE and UCL - I think there’s no better place to study international policy than in London. So many interesting people pass through London and stop by the London colleges to speak.
As between Bristol and Nottingham, my sense is that Bristol has a stronger reputation. From what I’ve heard, Bristol is a also very nice, livable city.
That was our sense, too (Bristol). We will get a much better sense of everything once we visit! Good luck to your D as well!
