My daughter has been accepted into a study abroad program at Oxford and I was curious as to the safety of that during the Olympic Games. She will be there during the full course of the games. Do any of you wise ones have any feedback?

Most of Oxford will be completely oblivious to the Olympic Games and vice versa. If she visits London there will be a very heavy police presence. All things considered she should be fine.
I hope she has a great time.

I am not the wise one. My D is in Stern,NYU and as part of her program she will be in London for her second year which is 2012. Never thought about the Olympics part of it. Now that you bring it up I think she will be fine as I feel it will be safer than ever. She will be in the heart of London’s University District, Bloomsbury, which is also home to University of London. Oxford is like a suburban college town about 70 miles from London so in my opinion the kids will be fine. Don’t worry dear.

Just checked the schedule for Olympics, it is in July-August and I believe the colleges remain closed during that time of the year.
