looking back

Today I wrote DS's final tuition check to ND.
Just like so many of you, four years ago DS was sitting on pins and needles waiting for his EA decision to Notre Dame. He was crushed when he was deferred to RD, but thrilled when the big envelope finally came in April.
No matter where you end up, embrace the journey. It will go faster than you can imagine, and you will be transformed. Best of luck to all of you, and whether your envelope is large or small, trust that there is a plan in place, created just for your life. Your job is to go out and find it!

Very well said!

I agree wholeheartedly. Our daughter was deferred EA last year and then waitlisted. When the big envelope finally came in MAY it was a very happy day! She is now finishing up her finals after her first semester at the University of Notre Dame and is loving it–a great fit for her and yes, I think she would tell you she has been transformed already.

While I am know she would have preferred to have the big envelope sooner, sometimes Admissions can just feel like a crap shoot–and deferral is not the end of your road. Throughout the process we believed that if it was meant to be it WOULD happen.

If does not happen for you, you will find the place meant for you at a university that will be fortunate to have you. For now, hang in there and know a lot of prayers are being said for big envelopes…for you.

Your post rings so true! It goes far too fast and really is an amazing experience for the students, and I must say, for the parents as well. DD applied EA 6 years ago, was accepted and graduated in '11. Now, we wait again for her brother’s notification…fingers crossed, hoping for good news, but also anxious with the knowledge of just how special this would be-what a special place it is… All our thoughts and prayers are with the applicants this week. Hugs to all and, of course, Go Irish!
