looking for a school for my daughter

My daughter is a freshman and will be coming home next semester to attend a local school. She is looking for a school for the fall. We live in Westchester county NY and would like a school within 3 hours driving. Looking for:
serious school for a B range student, alot to do on campus, not a party school, not christian-affiliated, not a huge school, pretty campus, nice town

any suggestions?

your post is not entirely clear, IMO. Is she currently a college freshman? So, would she be applying as a transfer for sophomore year. You probably should give SAT range, too, for people to be more helpful.

Is she a high B or low B student? SUNY New Paltz might fit the bill but the median gpa they are looking for is 88-92.

Maybe Hartwick College in Oneonta is a fit.

Ursinus ¶, West Chester ¶ and Drew (NJ). The schools that both LilyMoon and RSBuletz mentioned are good choices too.

thank you - I will look into these - already checked New Paltz - no housing for transfer students

That’s true - my son is a transfer student there. There are lots of housing options in the village within walking distance to campus, loaded with students. It’s a great close knit community. I wouldn’t rule out the school because of it. My son lives in a townhouse with transfer students in a complex of transfers. He’s meeting lots of great down to earth people. If you want any more info on New Paltz, I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Hartwick guarantees housing for all students all four years.

Spots are also held open for transfers and apps are reviewed on a rolling basis, so matriculation can be at the start of any term.

Why is she leaving the school she’s at? That may help in identifying campuses that offer a change.

We have experience with Hartwick-happy student, good results. Majored in Music(voice) and Nursing-now an NP who performs at weddings etc for “fun”

Thanks for all your responses - she feels that has been hard to meet people - biggish school and admin doesn’t have on campus activities. Would like a school where it is easier to meet people and where everyone doesn’t already know each other because they leave nearby
