Looking for a third AP to self study...

I've already set my mind on self studying ES and HG due to the amount of feedback that CC'ers have posted about these (joke classes).

However, I would really like to have a third AP to self study. I would have done psychology without hesitation but I'm already taking it in school (lol). I'm currently taking four AP's and excluding psychology, they include calculus BC, english language, and physics B.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Perhaps a history AP? If you’re looking for only easy AP’s, there aren’t many more than the general ones you have listed. But there are four different AP history tests you could take, AP European History, AP Art History, AP World History, and AP United States History.

Usually APUSH is taught in schools, so you might want to wait and take that in the future. But if you have a good memory, I’d go with either Euro or World. Memorization intensive, as I said, but relatively straightforward.

Whatever you do decide on, you can find the best prep book and textbooks in the thread called “consolidated book list for self-studiers”, currently on page two of this forum I think.
In addition to that, you may want to check out The Official AP _____ thread (fill the blank with the exam you plan on taking).

If you’re a science person, AP Bio is also memorization intensive and a fair 5 if you devote the time to it.

I’d rather not do a history. I took world history as a sophomore last year and got a 5.

Have you taken Biology? I’m inclined towards taking it but am afraid of how much information I have to learn to catch up.

I actually haven’t, I’m taking the class next year. However, before I thought I would be able to take the class I started studying for the exam and found it manageable (this was last year), so you have time still. AP Art History has just as much to memorize and a lot of people are just starting so you wouldn’t be far behind.

With BC Calc and Physics B, have you considered giving Physics C a shot? You could just take Mech, even, or just take E/M, depending on where you feel yoru strenghts are. I might go with Mech, personally. I know that you already have one physics AP, but you’re more likely to get college credit for C…just a thought.

Why do you need to self-study another AP? That doesn’t make sense.

If you’re not going to be taking American Government at school, I’d say give it a try. There’s a fair amount of reading involved but not nearly as much as the histories.

Biology isn’t a good one to study alone. It takes too much time. I know a girl who did, but she had a tutor and eventually went to Yale.

2 AP’s to study on your own should be more than enough. Really.

How about statistics? That seems like a good fit for you…

I would say that biology is the most memory intensive science.

The reason I want three is so that I can claim to be a National AP Scholar (2nd highest award by Collegeboard) by the end of my junior year. I have one 5 from sophomore year (world history) and am taking four AP’s in school. I don’t plan on getting any 3’s but 4 are expected in at least one of them. The two I listed above are widely hailed as the easiest AP exams to take and I have chosen them precisely for this reason.

Possible suggestions:

Statistics
Micro- or Macroeconomics
Psychology
Chemistry (you say you might be self-studying AP Bio…Chemistry might be in the same league–hard, but not so much memorization)

Has anyone had experience with self-studying statistics?

I’ll be taking both micro/macro in school senior year and am already taking psychology. I’ll probably take either biology or chemistry in school next year as well. As for physics C, I can’t take that exam and the B exam.

Colleges honestly don’t really care about AP Scholar distinctions at all. I didn’t even put it on any of my apps and I still got into all of my colleges. Really, don’t stress yourself just to get a distinction that won’t mean anything.
