Hello everyone, I am new here and have been lurking the forums since becoming indecisive about my degree path. I just enrolled in my community college and have finally decided to pursue a career. I am only interested in science majors, and always have been. I have other intrest as well, but not as rewarding to me as a science degree/major. My first major concern (no pun intended) is future employment like anyone else. From my limited amount of research of biased opinions, it appears alot of graduates and undergraduates are concerned if their degrees will lead them to employment, which is a reasonable issue given the amount of time, effort, and money involved with pursuing a science major. Being very limited with time and money, I want to make a decision that will more likely lead to employment. I don’t have alot of time and money to mess around, spent enough time with that. I am interested in biology mainly, but am 23 years old with zero financial support by anyone so it might be too risky to persue such a time consuming major. At the same time, I don’t want to give up on my dreams. I don’t think I would be able to survive financially for more than 4 years. If I would be taking a more competitive path like pre med perse, how could I compete with other students who have a supportive background? These kids get everything handed to them by family and can afford to make mistakes, while I on the other hand am always making decisions like it’s the last one I’ll ever make. I can’t afford to be any lower than where I am now, and certainly can’t afford to waste more time. Long story short, which science fields might be a good fit for me due to my situation?
