looking for associates

Hi, I just got a great idea. I want to start a small consulting " firm ". The way it would work is that students would send us a summary of all thier stats and as a group give educated advice on what schools are right for them. We would charge a very small amount of money. The profits will be split evenly after costs. I have an uncle that works at a marketing firm and is willing to help me and anyone intrested. We will work through phone and email. if you are intrested email me at dgt173@yahoo.com

I enjoy your 16-year old optimism but may I shed a bit of light?

Why would anyone help you if we are getting "charged a small amount of money"? I'm getting 22 dollars an hour interning in Shanghai, China right now but this is provided you are trying to recruit educated college kids. If you are hiring high school kids, why would people use your "firm"? Would YOU use a bunch of high school kids to rate your chances and then PAY them?

It takes time and effort for people to build up a network to the point where people will feel comfortable trusting/paying you. Many retired admissions officers have such ads and it only takes a small search on Google to find many of people who will do this. Sometimes they will even do this for free with guarantees that they'll refund the full price if the student does not get into said college. They can do this because of the network they have built (like an insurance company) that gains more than it loses.

I have more concerns but those are the primary ones. I dont' want to discourage you from doing it because I think it is a good learning experience and perhaps a good extra-curricular for putting down on your college application but just don't expect to be making much if at all :)
