Has anyone ever tried earning money with their college admissions knowledge?

I've applied for about a dozen part-time jobs this summer, and I don't seem to be getting anywhere. My lack of employment experience seems to be counting against me, even though I've spent the last four years up to my eyeballs in schoolwork and extracurriculars.

So anyhow, I was doing an impromptu self-skills assessment and realized something: As a recently graduated senior, I know a heck of a lot about the college admissions process. It's basically been my life for the last two years (and maybe longer, if I'm honest with myself).

I know that plenty of parents pay "private admissions counselors" thousands of dollars to coach their kids through their high school years and into the colleges of their choice. I live in a suburban area where kids aren't focused on getting accepted to Harvard as much as surviving the process.

I was thinking...What if I hired myself out to parents as a one-on-one admissions coach? I could meet with rising juniors and their parents in the library for an hour or so and run through the entire process with them, answering any questions they might have about visiting schools, writing essays, taking SATs/ACTs, applying for local scholarships, and so on.

Has anyone else ever tried this? How much should I charge per hour, and how could I advertise?
