Hey, everyone!

I'm looking to converse with anyone who is in an undergraduate or graduate program for directing at the moment (or anyone who's graduated from one). I've had limited experience directing (a handful of sketches for a showcase, a ten minute play, and a directing class I took at my performing arts high school), but I can discern from those pieces that I really enjoy directing, and am not half bad at it.

The thing is, studying directing (especially at the undergraduate level) doesn't seem to be a very practical choice, at least to my eyes. I am NOT slamming those of you who study directing out there, not at all! I am very jealous of people with enough conviction to get a degree in an art form. And now I'm sort of rambling. I guess I'm trying to say that personally, I would hestitate before even auditioning for a directing program, and I'd really like to talk to some people with opinions about studying directing in college.

Am I correct in my assesment that there are only three undergraduate directing programs in the country?
Are there more graduate programs?
What's the value of participating in either kind of program?
Are those programs the wrong choice for someone who loves to direct, but has very strong academic interests as well?

Thank you so much for your help, and I hope i haven't offended anyone.

P.S. I'm a junior in high school
