Hey Everyone,
I am a homeschooler (virtual school) located in Norcal. I am looking for fellow homeschool students who have like-minded interests as me. I am interested in competing in competitions such as the National Science Bowl, and Quiz Bowl tournaments. It would be nice to keep contact with students of similar interests, so feel free to PM me even if you are not from Norcal. I am mainly looking for homeschooled Norcal students who would be interested in creating a Quiz Bowl team, or even a Science Bowl team (not too sure how that works). Please PM me to follow through. By the way, does anyone know any extracurriculars a homeschooler can participate in? Thanks!
What do you mean by extracurriculars? Like in a school? I was in a choir for public school and home school kids that met at a high school.
There are plenty of outside organizations too (Boy/Girl Scouts, Civil Air Patrol - that’s pretty cool, etc.)
Extracurriculars that are not only at school but summer programs at universities, RSI, ect. I am currently doing archery as an extracurricular.
@TerrorTownChiraq: I’m not quite sure what the competitions you mentioned are, but you could look into FRC or other robotics competitions. I’m homeschooled, also in northern California, on an FRC team, and I really enjoy it.
If you’re interested in FRC, or would like a more through description, feel free to reply / PM me. I can also help you find which teams are open to homeschoolers (the majority are) if you’re willing to let me know what city you live in / near.
OP,
Ask your parent to join one of the many homeschooling groups in the Bay Area (if that’s where you are). There are probably hundreds of high achieving homeschooling in the Bay Area who share your interests. There are homeschooling groups for gifted kids. Just google it and you should be able to connect with some others in your area. Also check out local math circles and the like. Truly, the Bay Area has more high achieving homeschoolers than any area I’ve ever seen-probably due to the fact that the local schools don’t always work out for these families.
