Looking for outside opinions: Which College Should I Pick?

I just got accepted to Purdue so I would like to restart another thread for this.

I am planning on majoring in civil engineering. In your opinion, which college should I go to? (pretend that you know nothing about me if you have commented on my posts in the past)

So far I have been accepted to:
-Clemson University
-Northeastern University
-Purdue University - West Lafayette
-University Of Massachusetts - Amherst
-University Of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh Campus

Also waiting to hear back from:
-North Carolina State University
-Virginia Tech

Thank you very much!

Purdue is in the top 10 for Civil Engineering. Congratulations. I would choose Purdue over all that you have listed, including the schools you have not yet heard from.

Clemson or Purdue since its engineering, anything else I’d have said NEastern

Clemson is a school that manages, despite its size, to create the conditions for a happy student body with outstanding school spirit. Purdue is huge. They built more school than they can fund to excellence. They have no top tier city which naturally builds networks of its graduates like Chicago or New York. Clemson doesn’t either, but the positive bond among students goes a long way to promoting ties that last a lifetime.

Purdue is great.
Clemson is great.
How are their options for you in case you decide you are not going to major in civil engineering?
Look at price, and consider other intangibles like quality of life.
Clemson has better weather. ;)

I’d say Pitt. It stands a notch above the other schools on the list, I think

definitely not zoomass. i agree with midwestmom, purdue and clemson are probably the best. pick whichever you like more, and sc weather is definitely better!

bump, any other opinions?

For civil engineering and engineering in general, Purdue is likely the best of the lot. FWIW, a good number of NASA astronauts attended Purdue, I think.

thanks everyone! anybody else?
Seems like the general consensus is Purdue and Clemson.

purdue…but I’m an alum… so a bit biased

Definitely Clemson. Much better atmosphere, campus, weather, sports (especially football and basketball) and the civil engineering is top notch. I’d go there.

“Seems like the general consensus is Purdue and Clemson.”

That’d be my opinion too. Visit them both.

i would say visit them both
then look at other things such as costs! (which can always be a deciding factor lol)
plus if you want a big college with the whole football game spirit and close community i would say clemson but if it is not that important than purdue, but im sure you will love either and do great at both!

What are my chances of getting into a top tier college, and where should I apply?

blackbeastbomb, maybe you should start a new thread for your topic…

I am planning to visit both schools (Clemson and Purdue) over spring vacation.

based on the schools you already got into, i would say Purdue. if you get into VaTech i would look there too though, i know they have really good engineering, coming from a hoos fan

As a URM with great numbers, you could probably shoot for some Ivies, especially if you apply ED.

bump, any more opinions?
