Hi, I’m currently a high school junior and I’m beginning to consider what schools I’d like to apply to next year. I’m pretty open-minded as far as the type of school I’d like to go to, but I would prefer a school with ~3,000 people or more. I’m not at all opposed to bigger schools, but I would prefer a traditional college campus as opposed to a city-campus and I don’t want the school to be completely isolated. Greek life is fairly important to me too, so a school with plenty of sororities and fraternities would be awesome. A decent study-abroad program would be a big plus too. I don’t know what I want to major in, but I think I want to do something where I could work with children, maybe speech pathology or something with psychology. Definitely no intense math or engineering in my future, that’s for sure. Here are some of my stats:
GPA: 5.0 (6.0 Scale) weighted
4.0 nonweighted
Scores: Just took SAT for the first time, expecting ~1400 based of my PSAT scores + additional test practice
Classes: All honors where available, 3 APs this year (AP Bio, APUSH, and AP Lang), which is what most of the top students in my grade take.
ECs:
-National Junior Honor Society/National Honor Society (4 years)
-National Spanish Honor Society (4 years, VP)
-National Classical League (Honor Society for Latin, 3 years)
-Co-founder of club
-4 years Varsity Cheerleading
-Tutoring
-~300 hours of community service
- I work at a sleepaway summer camp as a counselor all summer (10 weeks)
I really like Clemson University, University of Georgia, Wake Forest University, Vanderbilt, and UNC Chapel Hill. However, all of these schools are either matches or reaches and I’d like to find schools that I can consider safeties, or even more matches. Cost is not a huge concern and I’m from South Carolina, but am fine with schools anywhere in the US. Thank you for any suggestions or ideas!
