looking for school somewhere around me

Hey... I am looking for a school around my area/in my state, I live in St. Louis Missouri. I plan to go into some type of engineering career. In particular, aerospace engineering interests me, maybe a minor in computer science or french lol. I'm really hoping to go somewhere in my state, Illinois if there are any good opportunities around there.

3.8 uw/4.0 w, 31 ACT, I've taken about 6 AP classes although my extra cirruculars are somwhat lacking... marching band and envirothon, although I have done a good amount of community service/tutoring that sort of thing.

I really like the prospect of internship a lot of hands-on experience, and I much rather prefer smaller schools to large (less than 10k). I am very interested in studying abroad, so I'd like to have a good program for that (going to France maybe), but its not the deciding factor. A lot of research possibilities is also a plus. I plan on going for 4 years, get a bachelors in some kind of engineering, preferably aerospace. I've looked at:

SLU: My primary choice right now, right next to home, my halfbrother went there and my mom works as a nurse at the SLU hospital. Does anyone know for sure if that program where if a family works there you can get 2/3 of the tuition paid? She got it for my brother, but some say it's not around any more. If this can be done that really makes it easier to go to SLU

Wash U: A long shot, I doubt I could get in there, but would it be worth the price, is the aerospace engineering program at washu even worth it, if I get accepted for whatever mystical reason?

MOS&T: Much cheaper but I'm not sure on how well the school is. It accepts about 90% of the apps and I don't want to go there if the education quality isn't quite on par with other public schools in MO.

I don't like Mizzou, the school's too big for me.

I have been looking at out of state possibilities like georgia tech and U of Il-Urbana but I've heard its kinda silly to go to an out of state public school since they dont have good financial aid. I'd prefer to stay in state but if there are really good programs in my department in the area I wouldn't mind.

Anyone have any ideas for me?

Your test scores and grades are in the upper 50% of the entering class at Illinois Institute of Technology and you would likely get merit aid. We have a relatively small undergraduate population (~2600) and an aerospace engineering program, but you have to be interested in an urban school.

Other similar universities can be found among the [Association of Independent Technological Universities: AITU](http://theaitu.org) schools but not all have aerospace engineering.

how would a degree in aerospace from IIT compare to something like SLU ?

Both are ABET accredited so you should be fine. You can check with each about job placement after graduation. Also run the Net Price Calculator on each school’s web site to see how much it will cost your family.

The IIT website says I could get ~$25000, not sure how to work the slu calculator though
