Hey, my name is Phil, I'm American, in 12th grade, and I am quite interested to know from some people who are well-versed in college admissions which schools are my target schools and which are my reach schools.

Here's me on paper
- GPA: 3.7 out of 4.0, 90.5 out of 100, A-
- Have taken lots of college business classes, honors and AP classes
- Coming from Syosset High School, a Long Island suburban public high school which is highly respected
- I am currently taking AP Comparative Government and am interested in majoring in International Relations or Political Science
- Cost is not quite an issue, but still in the back of my mind
- SAT: 680 Critical Reading, 700 Math, 720 Writing (1380 out of 1600, 2100 out of 2400)
- SAT II Biology E (660), Math I (620), US History (690)
- Business Honor Society, French Honor Society
- 2 Clubs (Investment Club member, Ping-Pong Club member), I also play tennis in US Tennis Association Level 2 tournaments, but not for my school
- I have been playing the piano (classical music, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin) for about 10 years and I annually participate in the New York State music competition, NYSSMA, and have done very well (grade of 95 out of 100 last competition)
- I prefer urban/suburban areas, but not limited to those locations

What are my targets and reaches? I am officially undecided, but interested in majoring in International Relations or Political Science. Help is extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think you would be in good shape for schools like George Washington and American. I believe that Dickinson has good programs in these areas and you would have very good chances there also.

With your profile, you can probably have a realistic shot at all but the dozen or two most selective colleges in the country. Many schools have strength in international relations, so you'll need to tell us more: large or small; LAC or research university; is there any particular national or area interest to your IR focus; are frats, sports, or any other social aspect of a college important to you?
