looking for schools in Cali

thanks carolyn :)

oh, CSUMB is pretty small. I've glanced at CSUMB before because they email me all the time, but I didn't sign up for their mailing list. lol but I do like that its near the ocean. Though I'm disappointed that CSUMB doesn't have Latin, and I'd really like to learn Latin.

I don't necessarily want to stay in Cali, but cal grants are nice. The other other states I'm looking at are Oregon, Wash, and maybe NY. I'm looking at Willamette in Oregon, which is a match, I think. And Reed which is a super reach and financial reach, but...

& My school says my GPA is a 3.367. However, I don't know how they got that, and I've added up my GPA many times. The conclusion I came to was that they added in 3rd quarter grades. I don't know why they would add it in though, but, oh well. So they say, 3.367 academic, 3.406 total, 3.35 CSU/UC. I'm convinced that thats wrong though. Because of changing schools things are a bit weird, so maybe they do things differently. But my GPA will go up at the end of the year :) I hope. My rank went from 55 to 45 too.

And next year I'll have a bunch of APs and honors, I signed up for:
AP English, Honors Gov/Econ, Trig/Precalc, Honors Physics, AP Spanish, and AP Bio. Plus I have to take PE independent study because at private school we only needed 1 year, public needs 2. And then another required class independent study, but thats just a semester. I think my first semester could go up next year since I'm doing pretty well right now, last quarter 3.83 GPA.

But like I said, I would prefer applying early. Its just my personality type. I like to do some things early, get this over with. I have a fear of not getting in anywhere, and I don't think I could wait until May. If I have to, then I have to, but I won't like it. But then I have a fear that I won't get into any of the small schools I like and I will end up at a large UC. I'm a shy, quiet person, so I don't make friends that easily, and I don't see how I could make that work for me.

How much of a reach is Santa Clara? I've been looking into the school, and I think I'll probably add it to my list.

oh and I forgot to mention that I'm looking for FAFSA only schools. our EFC is too high already, and since we have liquid assets CSS Profile doubles our EFC.

The Monterey Bay campus is disgusting. It's on an old military base.

Check out these schools
Chapman
University of Redlands
USD
USF (not religious, despite being a Jesuit school)
UC Riverside
UC Santa Cruz
San Diego State

How about University of Oregon, even though it’s not in California. You might want to check out Western Washington too.

it's an old military base? crosses off list thanks for the info :)

& thanks for the suggestions :) I'll take a look

other colleges in different states are fine, just financially, California is better for me
