Looking for schools to transfer to. Computer science major.

@intparent‌ I am definitely going to still apply to the U. I tried to transfer in the spring but the programming course that I needed to take was closed and without it they don’t take transfers for my major. I will be definitely applying to The U and Madison along with other reach schools but I’ll probably end up going wherever the FA is best. I looked into a 3/2 program because I do like the liberal arts school feel but I also want a good engineering education. I tried the Columbia NPC calculator and according to it Columbia would be very affordable. @ucbalumnus‌ They do not guarantee they will meet 100% of need BUT they state that family’s with income less than <60,000 are not expected to contribute anything. My family of 6 has an income of about 50k and by the time I enter school my 3rd year my sister will be starting college as well.

So far I’ve narrowed the list to Bard, Clark U, Oberlin, U of MN, and Madison. I will look more into schools like RIT and RPP

Also consider…
North Carolina A&T University
Florida A&M University
U Alabama-Birmingham
Illinois Institute of Technology
Case Western Reserve University
U of South Carolina
Ohio Wesleyan University
Saint Louis University

How much can you pay to attend each year? How will you find college as a transfer to any of the above listed schools?

My family can’t really contribute anything, at all. I can take out loans but one of the biggest reasons I’m transferring now is the loan burden is too much. I’m looking at liberal arts/private schools because they tend to have better aid for URMS and low income families. The 3-2 engineering program is more attractive because I can get the best of both worlds(Engineering and Liberal Arts education). I’m doubtful that financial aid, given my current situation, at Columbia will be so bad that I can’t attend. Worse comes to worst I can finish my degree at the liberal arts college.
