Help! were near Pittsburgh and need some leads for good school within a few hours

If you mean aeronautical engineering (vs. flying an airplane) then Case Western has Mech and Aerospace Engineering.

How about programs in this field (aeronautics/engineering degree)and with flight training. Just a tenth grader who LOVES to fly!

megnut, these are the best schools for aeronautical engineering that also have a flight training program:

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University--Prescott, Prescott, AZ
Purdue University - West Lafayette, West Lafayette, IN
University Of Illinois - Urbana - Champaign, Champaign, IL

And the Air Force Academy. You can not only fly but jump out of planes.

Purdue- you know Captain Sully who flew the plane into the Hudson, he went to Purdue- so its gotta be good!

Sully graduated from Purdue with a psychology degree so that's not relevant haha

but Purdue has an amazing aviation program

Actually, his masters degree is from Purdue. His undergrad is from the AF Academy.

Purdue is nice but Western Michigan is the real crown jewel of aviation programs, particularly in the Midwest-- Cirrus aircraft are awesome and the facilities are tops, not to mention the cost being much lower than Purdue's. If you can get past the "directional state" reputation it really is as good as you'll find.

Also St. Louis University for AE degree and flight line.

You should look at Penn State. In-state tuition, ranked 13th; the department has more alums than any other program which helps with job placement. They accept 100 students (juniors) each year. (At PSU AE often refers to Architectural Engineering; Aerospace is shortened to Aero.) Flight training is not part of the program, but it is available at the airport.

For a NOTAREACH choice, consider Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire. It has had an ABET certified 2 year program of years - sending its students to Emery-riddle and clarkson.

Their 4-year AERO and MECH programs are three years old. The final ABET cert. visit is scheduled for fall 2009. Has its own airport and fleet of planes.
