Looking for schools

I'm only a sophomore but I'm looking toward the school I want to apply to.

I'm looking for math, physics, or possibly pre-law.

Currently, on my list:

UNC-CH (instate legacy) Safety
Duke (Legacy) mid-High Match
MIT -Reach
Yale-Reach
Princeton-Reach
Harvard-Reach

I've heard good things about U Chicago...and I believe CIT/Stanford are too far away to apply to. I'm also not sure on how many schools to apply to.

What's inbetween Duke and HYPM?

Definitely look at Chicago for math and physics.

It's pretty hard to start doing this without SAT/ACT scores.

By the way, you might want to consider UNC-CH as more than a safety. For in-state tuition, it's one of the best deals in the country.

I'm just really think of where I'd like to apply. Like a dream list--- I can then work from there. I'm not really looking for any more reaches, the reaches I've chosen aren't matches for anyone. I can't think of any more safeties that meet the actually definition of safety. I think that 1 very good safety is enough, but I will reevaluate after I take the SAT next year--I will be disappointed with anything less than a 2100.

UNC-CH meets the definition of a safety--it is a college that will very likely accept me with some FA and I would be very happy to attend.

Before I get yelled at for considering UNC-CH a safety without SAT scores and only as a rising sophomore... I'm a quadruple legacy and directly related to the first student (Hinton James). When my relatives applied, they made a big deal about this. Besides, I only personally know 1/20+ people who've been rejected, let's just say that he was not academically inclined.

Back to my point though, what are some colleges that you would recommend for Science/Math that have good humanities programs, aren't midwest or west coast, and that aren't very small. (Although I've also heard good things about Olin college)
I'm just exploring my options.

As you mentioned, Olin is great (although small) because, although very difficult to get into, you don't have to pay a cent for the entire education. It is, however, an engineering school.

You ask what is between Duke and HPYS. The answer is, not much: the rest of the Ivies and a few other schools.

Others to look at would be Vanderbilt, Rice, Emory, Hopkins, and Carnegie Mellon.

I won't flame you for considering UNC safe, you know what your connections are. I will say in my experience it's unusual for legacies with a clear shot to apply for aid. The hook is usually that they are expecting your family to give them money.
