What Northeast colleges can you recommend that offer a lot of on-campus activities? My child is not that into partying or bars but does like to be social. Not into cities either. Any suggestions?

Can you give us a sense of her stats?

You don't post anything about your child's stats, which is fine. That does mean; however, that some of the schools I suggest could be major reaches or "super safeties" for him/her. As a general suggestion, I would recommend that your child avoid schools that have a large frat/sorority scene on-campus. From what I've heard and seen, schools that are heavy into this scene are sometimes (but not always) the bigger party schools. That being said, here are some places for your son/daughter to begin looking at...

She's a B+ student AP & honors classes; 1850 SATs (pretty even all 3 parts); multi sport varsity athlete but not sure if she will continue in college. Thanks!

Bucknell seems to be very active every weekend. My D, a freshman there has been busy every weekend with all sorts of university sponsered events, clubs and there's nighttime cafe's and clubs on campus with always something going on. She avoids all parties, drinking, etc and seems to be having a good time in a healthy environment. Their website always has events posted. She has found plenty of friends like her to hang out with and has not been to any student parties even though there is a greek social life if she chooses. Good luck.

William Smith College, NY; Allegheny College, PA; Westminster College, PA; Hamilton College, NY; Ohio Wesleyan University;

I've heard that Goucher has poor on-campus activities (in that few students participate); it seems to be one of the reoccurring complaints. Just something to consider.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Take a look at colleges in the Patriot League. Top notch academics and Division 1 NCAA sports. Lafayette, Bucknell, Holy Cross, Colgate, Lehigh, American, Fordham (football only), Georgetown (football only).
