Looking for some advice on financial aid

Hi! I got into Lehigh and their honors program, but the financial aid package is only $3,500 in Stafford loans, which is not nearly enough. What could I do to have them reconsider? I read something about requesting a "financial review." Should I call/write/set up an appointment? Should I tell them about competing offers or just how much I love the school? And what are the chances that they will award more money if we talk to them? Thanks so much!

Lehigh is just plain stingy with merit aid. They make it clear that they set aside more money for need based aid.

A financial review might get you more need based aid -- but don't expect merit aid if they didn't offer it in the acceptance letter.

My daughter applied ED to Lehigh and was accepted by six other schools that had rolling admissions before she got her ED acceptance. Lehigh was the only school that gave no merit money. When I spoke with her admissions advisor, that person made it sound like the other schools weren't in the same league as Lehigh, so where my D was a top student at other schools, she was merely upper middle at Lehigh, blah, blah, blah. Final answer -- no money. We do not qualify for need based aid.

She never had a chance to hear from her other very selective schools because she had to withdraw her application.

If you don't try, the answer will be no more money. You might get lucky. I wasn't
