Duke, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Rice, and American.

WUSTL is notorious for inundating students with mailings, especially if they send back one of those cards! :)

If she likes Amherst and Bryn Mawr, I think she should look at Smith, too.

I find it hard to figure out what is realistic for her in the absence of any stats, though. Sorry. It seems that virtually every LAC east of the Mississippi has been mentioned here. Except, perhaps, Dickinson. I’m not familiar with its setting, except that it is usually described as “small town.”

Oberlin is no less rural than Carleton, and a LOT less rural than Kenyon!

Check out Skidmore and Union. They seem to meet your criteria and are both excellent schools.

Many of the schools listed, were on her my daughter’s list also. We are from New England, so she applied to Bowdoin, Bates, Tufts, Bc, Amherst, Colgate, Holy Cross…Davidson was by far her favorite and she is finishing her freshman year and couldn’t be happier. There are D1 sports and close to Charlotte, so air fare is very reasonable. The climate is amazing and she doesn’t really miss NE. She admits it is kind of like living in a bubble, but she feels no need to leave campus. Good luck.

Bowdoin, Bates, Tufts, BC, Amherst, Colgate, Holy Cross, and Davidson are all highly sought after and hard to get into. Two that are often not on many people’s radar that are surprisingly good are Wheaton in Norton, MA and Connecticut College in New London, CT.
