If you're looking at Ivies, you will need to stress some aspect of individuality; your high scores are a given for any tier one school, the tipping factor will be unique aspects, essays, ECs, recs, etc. Make sure those are spectacular and totally unique, even if you only care about going to a top school for the prestige, which is fine, but it helps if there's some aspect of the school you really care about and want to attend for a specific reason, etc.

bump........

bump again... please somebody respond

I don't understand what this recent trend of reporting race, ethnicity, and/or class status in the chances threads are. Race, ethnicity, and class status don't get you into schools if you're not qualified, and it won't keep you out if you are. I think it mostly comes from a misunderstanding of how affirmative action policies work, but whatever.

Anyway, I don't know what to tell you. It's like centrus said. At top schools, your grades and scores don't matter -- everyone under serious consideration is going to be in the upper echelon of those measures, and HYP could fill their ranks with perfect 4.0+s and 2400s every year if they wanted to. What it's really about is what sets you apart as a person. I don't see that coming through here. What is your passion? And how can you play that up to really stand out among the throngs of 3.5+ and 2300+ that will be applying to the same top schools as you? That's what you need to focus on developing in the next couple months.
