Looking into transferring to UT Austin-advice?

Hi, i’m currently a freshman at FAU and I’m looking into transferring to UT Austin next fall (I am a Texas resident). I want to apply as an international relations and global studies major or a government major. I have a friend that goes to school to UT and she says that the transfer process for UT is a bit complicated, can anyone who has transferred to UT or has information on the UT transfer process speak to me of that? Also, is applying without a major into the liberal arts school better than applying with a major? If you have any information regarding this please pm me or answer to this thread. I have looked at the UT website for transferring and they don’t have much information regarding their transfer process.

You have to apply directly to a major for transfer, undeclared options aren’t an option for transfer applicants. College of Liberal Arts majors are highly competitive to be admitted into (3.7 or higher is competitive). Also, CAP students who complete the program and successfully transfer are guaranteed most COLA majors, so space becomes limited. Basically, be confident that whatever you select as your first choice major because it will be difficult to gain admission.
