Loomis Chaffee, Hotchkiss, Taft

Im a girl applying for 10th grade at these schools. I got a 93 overall on ssats: 94 in verbal, 87 in math and 72 in reading. I have a between a 4.3 and 4.5 gpa out of 5.0 and am taking 5 honors classes. I have a lot of community service and play field hockey and lacrosse but I don't have many major awards. What are my chances of getting into any of these schools?

I’m currently at one of these schools. I actually didn’t do as well as you did on the SSATs, but my individual scores were about the same. Your reading score might pull your chances down a bit, but your GPA sounds good and they love community service and athletics  Are you planning on playing varsity?

Otherwise, chances sound good, but you can only wait to find out!

Applying for Hotchkiss and Taft?? That’s a no-no. In the interview or application if the schools asks where else are you applying and you list a rival school…well…let’s just say that isn’t good.

^^ Utterly false. If you are a strong candidate, schools like nothing better than to lure you away from their rival. And most rivalries are based on institutional similarities anyway, so the administrators at these schools are well aware of the commonalities and not just the differences…
