LOR for Wharton ED

So for one of my LOR, I’ll be asking my English teacher who’s known me for two years now(I’m president of one club she runs, and editor for the paper she oversees)

My supplemental LOR will most likely be from a music teacher who I’ve been learning from for 5+ years. He’s seen me grow from a timid average singer to someone capable of giving concerts(Indian music) and winning competitions. I owe a lot to him, and he knows aspects of my personality(like being hardworking and determined) that I want to highlight in my application.

For my second LOR, idk who to ask. Here are the options:

  1. Physics Student Teacher- he’s new, but he really likes me and has been teaching the class all second semester instead of the real teacher. Openly calls me a “leader” based on how I handle myself in class and seems to think I’m intelligent enough. Let’s me do what I want in class. For reference, I have an A+ in the class as of now.

  2. Business Teacher- I’ve known him since the beginning of the year, and he seems to like me ok, but doesn’t really treat me any different from most of the other “smart” students. I started a Business under his guidance though, so he has some good material to talk about. I just don’t know if he’s a good choice since he doesn’t exactly express a preference for me over other students…I have an A in this class.

  3. Vice-Principal- He was happy to write a LOR for me for an internship I applied for(decision pending). Nice guy, knows me mainly for my leadership activities. I’ve started a club at my school as well founded and run a fundraiser under his guidance. Only problem is that I don’t see him on a daily basis. More like weekly/monthly basis so I can keep him updated on the club’s progress. He recently pushed my club to the school board and got it approved as a legit recognized club, which is a huge help…

For reference, I’m planning on majoring in finance/econ(if Finance is not offered at the school) and will most likely be applying ED to Wharton and EA to UChicago.

What do you guys think? Who should I ask?

Well, you might want to do some more research first not only is finance is the most popular major at Wharton, but everyone also graduates with an economics degree regardless of major.

Otherwise, pick the person who will write the most glowing letter for you. Based on the descriptions, it sounds like the physics teacher would be a good choice, but make he knows how to write an effective LOR — it sounds like this might be one of the first ones he will write.

Yeah I know that you graduate with an Econ degree at Penn, but you can graduate with a finance concentration which is pretty nice.

Some schools don’t have that option at all, which is why I specified.

So do you think the physics teacher is a good idea? Since my other LOR is from an english teacher, I didn’t know if I should get one from the business teacher to “cover the business classes”
