<p>Supplemental recs can be useful if they add something to your overall file. If your principal knows you closely and can comment on how you’ve added to the HS community, then I’d say submit one.</p>
<p>If it’s a generic, “Joe is a great kid” rec letter, then it’s a waste of time.</p>

<p>Your Principal can write your Counselor’s LOR. That is what my daughter is doing, and that way it would not be considered supplemental.</p>
