Our 2017 income will be about $9-$10K less than our FAFSA 2016 income - about a 5% reduction. Is this amount worthy of filing an appeal with schools financial aid offices once aid packges start coming in?

So instead of $200k your income will be $190k? I doubt it will make a difference.
Agree with @twoinanddone , but would add that this might make a difference if you have a very large family and/or other significant/unusual expenses (eg., chronic unreimbursed medical expenses), and are applying for need-based aid at schools with very generous aid policies.
I do have another child in college and a total family size of 5.
If using the ‘old’ income your two kids get need based FA, then it is certainly worth it to file the appeal because you’ll probably get a little more. If you don’t get any need based aid at $200k, you probably won’t get a lot at $190k.
Always worth investigating.
Some of the NPC’s show aid so I think I’ll investigate when it comes time. Thanks all.
