I lost my financial aid at a community college and I got accepted into an University, would I be able to have financial aid at this new school or do I not have financial aid anymore?

Need more info. Why did you lose aid?

What are you asking? The aid from your community college will not transfer to your university. If you lost the aid due to lack of satisfactory academic progress, it is very possible you will be ineligible where you transferred to…if you do not meet their SAP requirements.

You need to talk to the new university.

Just curious…if you did lose aid because you didn’t meet SAP, how were you able to transfer?

My grades slacked and then I dropped out to take care of my mother

So when you applied to the new university, did you send the transcript from your community college?

I’m sorry to hear about your mom.

Thanks, I didn’t transfer I had no credits. I used my High school transcript I graduated in 2012 so I’m still very new at all this

Well that isn’t allowed. You are required to send all transcripts regardless of credits. You may or may not be eligible for federal funds at this time. You are going to have to come clean to them so they can help you sort it out.

Go talk to a counselor at your community college and get some help. You are probably OK.

A.) You had extenuating circumstances for drifting out of the school (better if you dropped all of your classes properly- you may be able to do so retroactively through a waiver, maybe even a medical leave as a caretaker, if you did not), and

B.) The feds usually care most about how many semesters of aid they dispense to you. If your aid was cancelled, you may still have a full quiver.

So my message is: Don’t freak out, but listen to @BrownParent and clean up the mess now, or it will come back to haunt you. It is probably eminently clean-uppable. Do it.

I agree. You took courses at a community college. That you either failed or dropped them really does not matter. You should still have applied and provided that transcript to your current university.

You can’t just pretend that those CC terms didn’t take place.

Do you owe the CC any money for the failed classes?
