Hello , everyone , i am a senior in high school , and its litterly the time for me to search for a university that matches my intrests but i don’t know what to do when it comes to what i should do to study in the states as an international student . I will be glad to hear from one of you guys to help me , thank you
What can you afford? What part of the country are you interested? Your Stats?
You’re talking about applying next fall, right?
Sadly, if you are a senior right now, then you are truly off-track. your best chance are schools that have year-round rolling admissions…
Guys i want to study buisness andmanagment but as you said its too late for that iam living in morocco my country doesnt have a high educational system that’s why i was wondering if this could be possible , cause if i dont i wont have the opportunity to follow exactely my dream , since i want to study everything that has to do with the international buisness field , would you please guide me as you see i have no idea what to do
research schools with rolling admissions that do not have required standardized test scores.

Thank you guys so much
You could take a Gap year and apply for Fall 2016. This will give you time to take the SAT or ACT, Toefl and SAT 2 subject tests required. If you do take a Gap year, make sure you do not take any college classes or you will be considered a transfer.
Okay but why should it be a transfer i mean loosing a year is something so strange and inacceptable in my family ifplease do you have a skype or something that would help a lot i have a lot of questions to ask but whenever i do ask , the responses i get back from people arent benfecial to me , i dont have a single idea on what studying in the us looks like and what i should do to make it , since my family arent quite supportive , studying outside is litterly the worst sentence they wabt to hear but i want to proove them wrong , i do love english too i want to study buisness and managment with this language , could i contact you somehow skype or anything that you want at anytime you feel free to help
Thank you nattybow2015
- In the US, college applications are started in the Fall the year prior before starting college, so if you want to apply for Fall 2015, the applications should have been already sent. Very few schools will accept any applications now unless they are rolling admission schools.
- Majority of the schools need the SAT or ACT, Toefl and possibly SAT 2 subject tests along with your GPA and extra cirricular activities.
- If you are need of alot of financial aid, very few schools offer FA to International Students. The schools that do are very very selective and you need to have outstanding Stats to have any chance.
You should post on the International thread to get more help.
You need to do some background reading, some Self Help to learn a few things yourself. There are many resources on the internet to read about the basics. Also you can use this resource:

Thank you so much , i really appreciate all those precious informations you just gave me , that will hep me a lot .
I really appreciate your help but would you please clarify the idea of doing a gap year
When will you be graduating? If you want to apply during the regular application cycle, you can take a year off after graduating high school to take your tests, do an internship and/or work. You then can apply Fall 2015 for Fall 2016.
You need to read through everything at https://www.educationusa.info/ Then you need to contact the counselors at the advising center closest to you. There are two in Morocco: https://www.educationusa.info/Morocco EducationUSA is a not-for-profit organization, and the counselors are expert at giving accurate, unbiased information to students like you. They can help you through the whole process.
Are you doing a “baccalauréat” and if so, what “filière” and what are your current grades or do you have a “moyenne générale”? Are you the best in your lycée? Would you qualify for a “prépa”?
Have you taken any test (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, AP, ACT, IB…)?
“gap year” = the year after high school when you work or volunteer to diversify your profile, while you prepare for standardized tests that will help you get into a US college. Very common among international students.
Please, try to use capitals (“big” letters to start a sentence) and punctuation, as well as indentation for paragraphs, it’ll make reading your posts easier, plus it’s good training for when you’ll take the tests.
You’ll need to
1° read the Princeton Review’s Best Colleges to get an idea about American colleges. Read, mark each one you like with a post if, then fill out the “request info” form for each. Read the page about financial aid or merit aid carefully if your family can’t pay full costs (I assume it can’t.) You can also use “Supermatch” (above “find a college”, or in the column on the left): you enter what you want and the website gives you a list of schools to investigate.
2° prepare the TOEFL and get a high score
3° study very hard for the ACT or the SAT. Right now, I’d advise the ACT. Find Crack the ACT or Kaplan’s ACT 36 or “Up your score ACT” (which are good to explain what a standardized test is, how it works…), plus “Get your ACT together” and “the red book of real ACT tests”. Register for question of the day, work with Khan academy, practice with number2 dot com. You’ll need to take the test twice, once in June and once in September. Your scholarships often depend on doing extremely well (at least top 10%, often top 2%).
4° prepare 2 or 3 subject tests and take them in May if you can, in October or November if you prefer.
5° Over the summer, select colleges from your list. Look at their supplements; organize everything (deadlines, requirements, etc) on a spreadsheet or in a notebook.
6° Look at the commonapp essay topics and start working on them over the Summer Vacation.
