Lost

*This relates to HSL because Lost is such a popular show, popular shows are talked about, and social interaction is an aspect of high school.

Onto the real topic, what do you think of Lost? I hate it, and was wondering if I was alone or not.

Also, is it really as popular in your high school as I suggest?

Ugh I lost the game.

I love it? What is with everyone stating their reasons for why their thread belongs here?

^There is a sticky at the top about all post in this forum having to relate to high school specifically. I guess people don't want to get their threads moved.

Funny how the intended topic never got a chance to be discussed before this thread was derailed.

@ technol: it's okay now.

@ amciw: I don't watch TV. D:

It's not very popular at my school, far behind Gossip Girl and House. I liked the first season, but I've heard it's gone downhill.

I see. Lost epitomizes everything I hate about mainstream, primetime, television today. Its an ineffable hate, though, so don't ask me to expound.

While I respectfully disagree with your opinion, can you give me specific examples instead of some ambiguous rant?

Yeah, but it may get boring...hope they don't start delaying the ending like Prison Break now that they're actually off the island w/ the flash forwards...seems like that's what they're about to do. House has also become a drag...we all already know his act. Grey's Anatomy is floating well right now, they better keep it up,but then again if they don't then i'll get to study more.

Also ppl in my school talk about music. Not tv.

lol noob status. ;)

It has its ups and downs, but the overall impression is more favorable than whatnot...

Admittedly, compared to the shows the majority of kids at my school watch (trashy reality shows a.k.a. Tila Tequila and company), I enjoy Lost.

This will not be complete, but here are a couple of examples...

The overly dramatic effects, trying to be cool
The sometimes implausible storyline, trying to be cool

It just seems like junk that appeals to everyone only for the coolness factor, I guess. That the problem I see with so much of TV today. They try to be sophisticated and chic. I don't like it, at all.

LOL, amciw, implausible storyline? You think? It's not supposed to be like "Lord of the Flies." Would you criticize "I, Robot" or "1984" for an implausible storyline? "LOST" is basically science fiction.

Since when does either of the things you listed indicate "trying to be cool?"

I love LOST! It always keeps me on my toes, thinking...I would wager to say that it is the most intelligent show on basic TV in a lot of ways because it doesn't just encourage watching, it encourages interacting and creating theories and challenging the creators.

I sincerely thank you, without any trace of sarcasm or mocking intended, for giving me a really good laugh today at 3:00PM currently while I just woke up. It made me wide awake.

Last week, after hearing years and years of hype, I decided to go on abc and watch the first episode. I dunno, it just seemed so... boring. I stopped watching while the doctor guy runs around trying to save everybody.

By implausible, I meant contrived. I can't dig exact examples out of my memory, but I remember there being some things that seemed iffy.

Lost is not science fiction, either.

Its the feeling exuded by the presentation. Its painfully obvious to me the producers are trying to make a chic, hip show.

To each his own...

Because its true...

BTW, what game are you staying up late playing? I want to know

JJ Abrams (the creator of LOST) has alluded multiple times that he believes that LOST is, in fact, science fiction. I don't think you're qualified to say that it isn't unless you've watched all episodes, which, I would assume from your statement that you "feel excluded" by the presentation (which, 1, is lame, and 2, makes absolutely no sense) you haven't.

It's true, to each his (or in my case, her) own, but the things you have said to explain your dislike of the show sound downright dumb to me. I mean, "iffy" story lines and "exclusionary" graphics? Please.

Just wondering, what TV shows do you like?

I hate the TV show Lost with a burning, fiery passion.

"Its the feeling exuded by the presentation. Its painfully obvious to me the producers are trying to make a chic, hip show."

What's wrong with making a "hip" show. Do you think the creators of the show were thinking...Hmmm lets make this show so the majority of people will not like it and we will make no money! Brilliant!
