Low ACTs High SATs?

I’m just curious if anyone has any experience with this? I’m definitely going to prep again for the ACT because I let anxiety get the best of me on my last test day (30+ composite on about 4 real ACT practice tests, but froze up and got a 25 on the real thing); but I am considering taking the SAT just to see if it could automatically yield a better score.

Sorry if this thread is somewhere else (I searched google and didn’t see one)!

Thanks!

The ACT is a time crunch. It’s not super difficult but you have to move very quickly so there is no time to hesitate. So many kids and families game the system and get accommodations so they can get extended time to take the test. Finding doctors to write exaggerated reports. Not fair. And very frustrating.

You can always download and do a SAT practice test from Khan. Nothing to loose. If the test feels more comfortable because there are less questions you should then practice a bit more and go for it. They say ACT is easier to practice for but my kids just could not stand the format and the time crunch especially for math and science. Reading and writing they felt was probably easier.

Where is the source?

It is not uncommon for an individual student to do better on one test than the other. Which ever one works better for you, go for it and don’t look back. The vast majority of colleges will accept either one, with no preference. Best of luck.

Both my Ds did better in ACT than in SAT. It differs from student to student. The concordance table is basically population average. You should take whichever one better for you.
