Low Chances?

Hello everyone,
I am looking in to going to Vanderbilt University. The only problem is that I do not know what my chances are. I have a 3.6 (UW) GPA which is pretty low, but a score of 32 on the ACT. I have many extracurricular activities that I take part in and have 75 hours of volunteering at a local hospital. My question is, are my chances pretty good? My GPA concerns me, but I do go to one of the best school in my state and I will have taken 6 AP courses by the time I reach college. My ACT is good enough I think; any chances for a scholarship to this school you beleive?

Thanks for the help.

Where do you fit in your class? If in the top 10%, Vanderbilt may be a realistic option if the rest of the package is strong (ECs, essays, etc.). As for scholarships, full ride scholarships based solely on academics are limited, but when there is financial need, Vanderbilt seems very generous. Good luck.

I think I fall in top 20 % of the class, but of course, I took hard classes which lowered my GPA, so many people will have higher GPA's then me, but having taken a lot easier classes. That makes me fine though right? I don't need financial aid, but 30,000 per year sounds a lot no matter who you are.

I could probably pay 10,000 a year; is this even realistic?

View the profile for the class of 2009 at this link:
http://www.vanderbilt.edu/Admissions/freshman%20profile.htm. The class of 2010 profile will likely be made available in October. Admission becomes more difficult each year, so you may find Vanderbilt a reach school if you are not in the top 10%. You should have your counselor point out that those who rank ahead of you did not take the same course load and if you are really set on Vanderbilt, you may want to consider ED.

I am rather set on Vanderbilt. It is sort of a dream school but I think I can do it. What is ED? Why should she point out those ahead of me? You are saying that I do not have a chance to get a scholarship, or even get in. I mean, if I have to I can pay 20K a year, but it would be a burden. What should I do now? BTW I am only in Junior year of high school right now. I predict my GPA will be a 3.6, but I am not sure yet.

Vanderbilt is very good with financial aid.

Does Vanderbilt almost give everyone some aid? My question is partially though if I can even get in.
