I'm a junior with a 3.8 almost 3.9 GPA. I go to a great private school in Ohio. My class size is only 153, but I'm in the top 39%(60th). Im in about 3 clubs and Im the president of 1. I have been on student council for a year and plan to run again. I play lacrosse as well. I will have well over 100 hours of service by the time I leave. I currently have a 22 on my ACT but I took it again and plan around getting a 25-27. I am an excellent writer and I write for a well respected lacrosse website. I plan on going to a leadership camp this summer. I have not taken my SATs. I will have taken around 5 AP classes by the time I graduate. I want to get into Vanderbilt, what do you think of my chances? Feel free to ask anything else I missed. Please be very honest

Its a really really slim chance. Your GPA is low and ACT is low. EC’s are par.

<a href=“Vanderbilt At A Glance | Undergraduate Admissions | Vanderbilt University”>http://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/profile/

Check that out. Vandy’s middle 50% of ACT scores is 32-34, so a 25-27 will probably not cut it unless you have a hook. Also, almost 90% of students at Vandy are in the top 10% of their class. Being 60th out of 153 is not going to help you. As you are a junior, it’s probably too late to improve your GPA too much, so you’re going to have to focus and getting a really good ACT score (or SAT) and you’re going to have to cross your fingers. Right now, Vanderbilt is a HIGH HIGH reach for you.

I would agree that my ACT is very low, but how is my GPA low. The average incoming Vandy freshman GPA is a 3.75

Other than raising my gpa/act how could I improve my chances?

Is the 3.8 Unweighted or weighted?
chance me please:)

I’m not sure which one, it’s my acumulative. My current semester is a 4.1

So its your Weighted which accounts AP and Honors
Vandy has the Unweighted GPA at 3.75

GPA is fine (I don’t know why everyone says it’s bad) but ACT is going to kill your chances 100%. Get it above a 30 and then it’s still a maybe
