Low composite, decent-ish english, math, and writing ACT

My ACT composite is a 32, but my english and math scores were 34 and 33 respectively with an essay score of 9.

When I look at middle 50%, I know that my composite score is either in the middle or in the lower end, but my english and math scores are in the middle or upper end.

Will my composite score bring me down? Conversely, will my english and math scores compensate?

Ok…get a grip. A composite of 32 is not LOW. It’s HIGH.

Since you say that your 32 is in the middle, that means that you’re using elites as your standard.

If your goal is an elite school, then study the Science Reasoning section and bring that part up. And, take the SAT…no SR on that. Since you’re strong in M and E, then you might end up with a higher SAT.

Be sure to apply to matches and financial safeties…the elites are a crapshoot.

A 32 will get you into 97% of US colleges with appropriate grades.

Mom and Waverly are right! Your score isn’t low. You are in the top 3% in the US.

As a parent of a truly low scorer… 18. I can’t understand why you are complaining about a nearly perfect score.

Study harder, take it again, but don’t complain. 97% of people aren’t going to feel sorry for you. It’s kids like you who make “normal” score recipients feel really dumb when they are just not good at taking standardized tests.

Yeah, I’m only applying to a few elite schools, but nothing like HYPM. The rest are either matches or safeties for me.

I didn’t mean to show off or anything, and if I did I’m sorry. It’s just that most CCers actually DO see my scores that way, given that most of them are academic pinnacles in their schools who will complain about getting a 2300 and not a perfect score. Again, I apologize if I insulted anyone.
